Single-Pilot IFR Out of Little River in the Cutlass!
Personally I would not accept that "fly runway heading" clearance at Truckee in a naturally aspirated airplane. You really need to have a clear idea when you're going to turn towards your climb because of the rising terrain and you're going to need to keep the turn shallow. If they forget about you and turn you too late, you might not be able to keep the turn shallow and will start sinking. I watched a naturally aspirated Saratoga make a normal looking 30ish degree bank to start climbing and he started sinking. This was in cold weather. It was scary to watch. Just imagine hot weather. I wish everyone learning about mountain flying could have watched that.
I like a lot of things about the VJ G2+, but man that climb performance and cruise speeds seem hardly better than some piston engine planes. Awesome vid though, thanks for sharing!
Smooth landing!👍
"Oh yeah! Smooth as silk on the landing!" I like your content very much, Your video quality is very good.If you do SEO in every video you will get better results🥰
May I know the reason for not uploading your regular videos? I love this kind of videos😇
"oh yeah" on the landing
That's how those jet's stay so clean and shiny. Plane wash! Good job, Will
Hey Cappy
I like these types of videos but probably not the best camera angle for it. Thanks for posting.
Nice job, Will. Man, those views are amazing!!
Winter mountain flying offers the best views for sure
Gorgeous views, gorgeous plane, gorgeous landing! The holy trinity of aviation! well done!!
Thanks! The CJ has a much larger windshield than the Sovereign. Definitely makes for some good videos.
@@WillThePilot Was this a one time flight or should we expect more Citation videos? Been obsessed with this thing in MSFS
@@SyTradesThere will be more
Let’s be honest, you’re a better pilot than a RUclips content creator. There is nothing wrong with that - just focus on aviation and don’t be distracted with creating “content”.
I’m always stoked to capture some great aviation videos and share them. True, I don’t put quite as much effort into the video creation as others…. But the process is a lot of fun :)
great landing! but maybe less back of the head and overexposure of the outside next vid?
Trying to find the best angle lol. The design of the windows on the Sovereign makes that difficult, but the search continues!
@@WillThePilot 😂😂😂, best of luck! Keep the videos coming!
@@SyTrades You might like the camera work from my latest video
Right on, Will! Dig the star-spangled necktie, by the way. Keep 'em coming.
Thanks! More vids on the way🤙
Awesome!!
Thanks Eric🤙
No doubt this was good training. However you’re betting your life on the engine. What happens if your engine fails during the ILS to MRY?? Into 100 foot vertical visibility and 1200 RVR? What happens if your engine fails when you’re enroute to ZEBED? You’re going down into the cold water of Monterey Bay. Not likely to survive that without life preservers and rafts. I have been flying 54 years and I do not fly out of gliding distance over open water. And I never fly single engine when the weather is that low. It may be good training, but I don’t think it sets the right example. And flying when it is almost night time is also not the best practice in my opinion. John, ATP/CFII SMEL
Miss the long hair brother
Atta Boy, Will! When you make Captain you can grow back your handlebar mustache and wear rocker ballcap at the controls again.
Already wearing a cowboy hat on some of our flights.
AWESOME SAUCEEEEE
YEAAHHHAHAHAHHA
CFI here. Great job and excellent training video. I'll be using for future students.
Thank you! I hope your students enjoy this video and learn a bit too.
Im guessing you work for PCJ.
Will, thanks and welcome back! Congrats on taking on jet pilot role. I saw your photo and said, who's that? Not used to seeing you in uniform and without the rocker trucker hat! Groundspeed on final is sure fast up there.
Nice man
What up! Been a while. Need to see some Arrow content. Glad to see you back flying..
Nice video, but it's Sierra or Sierra Nevada, not Sierra's since Sierra is already a plural word meaning mountains!
Super swag super slay 😌
Nice landing. Good to see you back. Hope all is well. Thanks for sharing. You still teaching in Livermore or nearby?
Yes I am!
I'm not a pilot but i enjoyed your flight. I live rite next to the McCullough bridge in north bend and my mother and sister live in Jacksonville down the road from Ashland. Be safe out there
What do you suppose that Cherokee meant at 2:15 by “making a crosswind entry to left downwind”? I’ve heard of crosswind departure, but crosswind entry makes no sense to me??
Good question, I believe he was overflying on a somewhat crosswind leg, then descending and turning downwind. Similar to just overflying midfield, but west of the field instead of overhead.
Lampson does have some good burgers 🍔
I love little river. Winds can be blustery there.
Not a lick of snow on Shasta. That's a bit unusual isn't it?
This was filmed in the fall of 2020.
Slayyyyy 🤝
Paper approach plates??!
Yeah I thought I was really cool back then....
Will, your IFR vids make for excellent chair flying practice for me because you fly such a range of approaches and real world, challenging conditions while demonstrating well developed IFR discipline (especially for a SEP.) I wonder if you would consider (even prioritizing) showing continual view of principle instruments and GPS next waypoint so we can practice staying ahead of the plane with you. We can see you fingers during your robust narration, but can’t see the instruments long enough to anticipate what you are responding to. I am trying to persuade more RUclipsrs to do this. It would make this a nice library of experience we could learn from and cost less than Avgas. Thanks for sharing good skills!
Looks like your fuckers are going to rob the joint, haha nice video keep em coming!!
Will, just found your channel and really like it!! I own and fly a Piper Lance out of Ashland. Thanks for coming to visit, keep the videos coming!!
Good to seee you back in the Arrow Will
This airplane only has 1 engine if you look at the top. It could be dangerous because if engine go out you don’t have another one to use. I read that 2 engines are much better. And also I think you can’t fly over ocean or water.
True, but this plane also has a parachute. But agreed, a second engine always helps out.
@@WillThePilot good point. The parachute is a good safety feature.
Castle is not in Central California. It’s in Northern California.
Something like that....
I’m a volunteer there. Responsible for the F-4E.
Wow, moving fast up the ladder, Will! Jet, Vegas, and AC/DC all in one video. Well done
A Vegas specific AC/DC song nonetheless

I like the look!
Great video Will, I almost didn’t recognize you. That mustache could fly the jet on its own. You definitely are a natural in the jet. Nice job.
Will the pilot is a natural in a jet!
Slummin' it over there in the Vision Jet eh? Nice man - and cool to hear you are a CFI now.
Hey Will. Great clip. Looking at a J today. Did you do your avionics upgrades? Also are you in NorCal?
The previous owner upgraded to a garmin 650 gps and two gi275’s for the attitude and HSI. We’re located at the Livermore airport KLVK
@@WillThePilot Excellent. I was just practicing approaches into Livermore. Looking at the J today in Placerville.
BTW. How do you like flying the Mooney?
@@JonMulveyGuitar it’s a blast
How do you get such clear video of your panel?
Using a suction cup mount on the window to get a close up, and the GoPro films in high resolution too.
Asking a Mooney to slow below 100kts? Que Barbaridad! But you handled the instruction like the Dude…
I love flying my G..
